Leeds Festival: Life on The Ground

Posted on August 21, 2008. Filed under: LeedsFestival |

Things are different this year. I don’t mean just the change of name, nor the ditching of long term beer company sponsors, but also something more personal. You see, Leeds Festival celebrates its 10th year this weekend, at the same time as I celebrate my 10th year of attending either it or its more famous sister (but not as friendly) site in Reading.
About the time I rolled into my fourth consecutive festival, tickets started to become harder to come by and way more expensive. Ten has always seemed like a nice achievable number, and now that I’ve finally reached it, the temptation to spend my money in other ways has become too strong; this will be my last Leeds for a while.
Given that, this has been an interesting first day..a possibly leaky tent during a strong shower immediately after setup, more mud that I’ve ever seen in one place, a new camping location and arriving earlier than I ever have before.
And as usual, the quiet spectacle of the setting sun. Myself and dreadpiraterachel have 30 or so bands and comedians to catch, so we should get an early night. I’ll catch up with you in the long line waiting for the arena to open tomorrow. Also: bless mobile WordPress. Again :->
